Patricia Lynn Martell

Patricia “Pat” Martell (née Miley), age 69, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Grass Lake, Michigan. Her humor, courage, and grace throughout her brief and unexpected battle with cancer is admired by all those who loved her. Pat lived her life in Michigan, growing up in Ann Arbor, raising her family in Chelsea, and retiring in Grass Lake. Pat truly lived life to the fullest by appreciating life’s simple joys and laughing easily, devoting her time and love to her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of her children’s lives and accomplishments. She is remembered as a kind, gentle and patient soul with a wonderful sense of humor. Even in her final days, she continued to crack jokes, lifting the spirits of her loved ones.

Pat is survived by her four children and their spouses: Pamela (Carlos) Garcia, Bradley (Jessica) Martell, Sarah (Eric) Holmstrom and Jeffrey Martell; six grandchildren: Alex, Taylor, Itsari, Veronica, Nicklas, and Lucille; four siblings: Robert (Ann), Kenneth, Mary Lou, Sue (Larry) Nix; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard E. and Lucile R., and brother, John.

A funeral mass will be held in her honor at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church at 10 am on Thursday, May 10 with a visitation and reception to follow at Muehlig Funeral Chapel from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in Ann Arbor (www.dignitymemorial.com). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Pat's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital of Ann Arbor and Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice for their dedication to Pat’s comfort.
