Newcomb, Matthew Lee 28, of Ann Arbor, MI died May 27, 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand. He was born June 9, 1982 in Ann Arbor, the son of William and Kasha (Palkowski) Newcomb. Matthew was an outgoing and caring individual who will be missed and fondly remembered by all he knew. He attended St. Francis Elementary School, Huron High School, and the University of Michigan College of Engineering graduating in 2004 with a BS in Industrial Operations Engineering. Matthew was a varsity athlete at Huron High School, lettering in both golf and hockey. He loved all kinds of music and was accomplished at the piano and saxophone. In college, he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Matthew was a world traveler and adventurer. He had a wide reaching professional career beginning as a systems engineer for Infosys in Bangalore, India. He also held positions in San Diego, CA, Chicago, IL, Cairo, Egypt and Dubai, UAE. His entrepreneurial spirit prompted him to co-found Globalite Services, an international engineering consulting firm. At his time of passing, Matthew was en route to dedicate his time volunteering at Baan Unrak Children's Village in Northern Thailand. Matthew is survived by his parents, William and Kasha; his brothers, Billy and Erik; and his sisters, Molly and Laura. He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Wanda Palkowski; his dear cat, Willow; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Donations can be made to the Matthew Newcomb Memorial Foundation. Mass will be offered at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, June 11, 2010 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2250 E. Stadium Blvd Ann Arbor. Visitation will take place at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel 403 South Fourth Ave., on Friday, June 10 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service. Aarrangements are through the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, Ann Arbor MI.
