Mary Reilly of Ann Arbor, MI passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the age of 75. Mary was born July 27, 1948 in Chicago, IL. She graduated in 1972 from Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. She loved working with children and fulfilled her passion in Ann Arbor Schools as a paraprofessional for 30 years. She was actively involved at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor from teaching Sunday school, to being a member of the Alter Guild and the Second Fifties group. Mary was an avid reader and loved her craft groups. Enjoyed taking girls trips to South Carolina where she walked the beach looking for sea turtle nests. Most of all, she loved being part of the Dr. Richard Porter Classic Synchronized Skating Competition that she helped establish in 1996. Mary loved watching and managing the Hockettes and was overjoyed to see her daughter and granddaughter skate as part of the team. She was an active member of the Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club for 33 years. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Elaine Birr, her husband David Reilly, and son Christopher Reilly. She is survived by her brother Paul (Ferne) Birr, sister Kathy Birr Scanlan, daughter Alison (Carl) Maki, her granddaughter Kaleigh Maki, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, January 27, 2024. The service is @ 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Located at 420 West Liberty, Ann Arbor, MI. 48103 and a luncheon to follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The US Figure Skating Memorial Fund in her honor.
