Maggie Ruth Traylor-Lassiter was born August 30, 1921 in McCormick, South Carolina to the late Moses D. Traylor and Elizabeth Moragne Traylor. Maggie was the ninth child of ten children, all of whom have preceded her in death. With her loving family by her side, Maggie peacefully made her transition to be with the Lord the morning of May 23, 2019.
As a young girl, Maggie attended and loved going to school in McCormick, SC. She attended Holy Springs Baptist Church and was Baptized in Holy Springs River, South Carolina. She later met and Married Johnie William Lassiter in 1939. From this union, they had eight children.
In 1944, Maggie, Johnie, and their two children, Carl Henry and Vivian Ann, moved to Detroit, Michigan as part of the historical ‘Great Migration.’ Upon their move, her husband Johnie, worked for the Kaiser-Frasier plant in Willow Run, MI until its closure and then worked for General Motors, INC. until his retirement. During this time, Maggie was a devoted stay-at-home mother and wife. Their growing family soon moved from Detroit to Willow Run, MI. There, they raised their family of eight children.

She always attended Bible study, Vacation Bible School, Revivals, and many programs the church provided. Until Maggie’s illness, she rarely missed a Sunday service.
Maggie deeply loved the Lord, her family, church, and friends. She was always involved in activities, programs, and outings with the Ann Arbor Community Center. She enjoyed traveling with her daughters, Vivian Ann and Johnnie Mae. She sailed on cruises, traveled to Caribbean Islands, visited the Holy Lands, and attended family reunions around the country and her childhood home, South Carolina.
Maggie loved talking with her friends, walking, and meeting new people. She never met a stranger. She would inquire about a person’s family until she knew someone that they knew.
