Leonard graduated from Ann Arbor High School and the Electronics Institute of Technology in Detroit. A Florida resident since 1974, Leonard was a proud veteran who served with the 95th Infantry Division during World War II. He exhibited remarkable courage during the Battle of Metz, France, where he was wounded. His dedication to his country continued through his membership in the American Legion Post 8 of Winter Haven, FL, and as a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
A devout Methodist, Leonard was married for nearly 59 years to the late Delores Whitley Fisher. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lou Anne Tasch and Mary Jo Knight, both of Ann Arbor. Leonard is survived by his two loving daughters, Sandra Fisher and Kathleen Fisher Woodin, both of Haines City, Florida. His legacy lives on through four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and eleven nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be held at Washtenong Memorial Park. A celebration of Leonard's life will take place in Ann Arbor at a later date, allowing friends and family to gather and commemorate a life well-lived.
