Services for Karen Kreutzer, 75, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S 4th Ave. in Ann Arbor. She passed away early Friday morning at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor after a brief illness.
Mrs. Kreutzer, who was born in Akron, Ohio, lived in Ann Arbor for many years. Prior to that, she was a resident of Whitmore Lake. Mrs. Kreutzer was also a resident of Detroit for almost thirty years, and was also a longtime resident of Riverside, California.
Mrs. Kreutzer worked many years as an administrative assistant at the university’s Nuclear Medicine Unit, from which she retired in 2014.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Bryant) Kreutzer-Lowry of Garden City; two sons, Buddy (Emily), a resident of Yspsilanti and Robert (Cheryl), a resident of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Jan (Andy) Seides of Austin Texas, and Patty (Barry) Kideckel of Florida; and many nieces and cousins.
Those who knew her will be eternally grateful for all the love and resilience with which, as a single mother, she raised three children. She’ll be missed for many other things, especially her friendship, and not the least, how she could share wisdom on any problem, bluntly and truthfully yet never make anyone feel stupid or small.
Mrs. Kreutzer kept busy with many interests. She was an avid walker who often walked circles around friends and family far younger than she. Mrs. Kreutzer especially loved walking in natural areas such as the Grand Canyon and other national parks, especially in the fall when the leaves were changing colors. She also enjoyed travelling to big cities, such as New York City, Washington D.C., London, Paris and Rome.
