Joanne was born February 17th, 1956 in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended Sacred Heart Model School, continued on to the University of Louisville and graduated from Michigan State University. Joanne spent many years traveling Asia, and fell in love with the Japanese culture. Joanne then moved to Ann Arbor and worked for the National Weather Service. In 1993, Joanne adopted her daughter Kathryn and dedicated her time to being a full time mom. She returned to work as a noon hour supervisor at Burns Park Elementary School where she worked for 14 years. During that time Joanne also worked for Kids Club (Community Day Care). Joanne married her love after 33 years in 2017. She had a passion for art and music, traveling, cats, and spending time with her family. She fought cancer with optimism and courage, and when the cancer came back she wasn’t mad, she was ready to fight back. Joanne had the most amazing sense of humor, and was always making people laugh. She used to always say “ I’m not laughing at you, I’m laughing with you.” She was an unforgettable and loving woman, we will all miss her dearly.
