Janet Kay Kochendorfer

Jan passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November 9, 2022 at the age of 87.

Jan was born in Alma, Michigan on September 20, 1935 to Louis and Henrietta Schneider. Her family was very entrepreneurial having owned and operated several Schneider Floor Covering stores throughout the State of Michigan. Jan went on to marry Friedrich "Fritz" Kochendorfer, and they founded and operated the Old Heidelberg Restaurant of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Jan was a private and very independent mother who was strong, resilient and resourceful. She was an honest woman of her word. She was a dedicated and hard worker in life and had a 30 plus year career with Gelman Science. Jan was well known for her kind heart and her great sense of humor - her demeanor was infectious. You couldn't not laugh if Jan was laughing. A huge animal lover, she cared for several animals throughout her life.

Jan lived for her two daughters. She was a loving and caring mother of Terri Boegel (Hartmut) and Karla Kochendorfer (Dan Roberts). Caring and devoted grandmother of Jessica Boegel, Michael Boegel, Karina Roberts and Daniel Roberts. Sister of Virginia Paulsen, the late Louis Schneider, Eugene Schneider, Theodore Schneider and Paul Schneider.

Jan's family will have a Memorial Service at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. 4th Ave., Ann Arbor, MI 48104. A visitation will begin at 11:00am and continue until the time of service. Interment will follow the Funeral Service at St. Thomas Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial tributes to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Disabled American Veterans.
