Jane M. Kaufer

Jane M. Kaufer, 80, of Ann Arbor, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 14, 2017 after complications of cognitive dementia. She met the man who became her husband of 60 years in “The Big House” at the U of M vs. UCLA football game on September 29, 1956. They married less than a year later on August 11, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Jane was an exercise enthusiast, particularly enjoying running. Her favorite activity was downhill skiing and her favorite location to ski was Sun Valley, Idaho. Jane was also a great cook, having traveled to Italy to study cooking. She was a Certified Reiki Instructor, teaching the natural healing process of touch and channeling energy.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Herbert Kaufer, MD; sons, Aaron Kaufer and Brian Kaufer; grandchildren, Grace Kaufer, Cameron Strickland, Ayla Strickland, Vanessa Kaufer, Samuel Kaufer and Noah Kaufer; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Mason.

Graveside services will be at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Forest Hill Cemetery, 415 Observatory Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104.
