Jane Lockwood Barney, 104, died peacefully in her sleep in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on July 7. She left daughter Alice Barney Aronow (Abraham Aronow), son James O. Barney (Deborah Ruzicka), son Daniel R. Barney (Ann Malester), daughter-in-law Patricia A. Murphy, grandchildren Adam Aronow, Roger Aronow (Mary Beth Aronow), Paul Barney (Marion Finnegan), Ross Barney (Ann Atwood), great-grandson John Lockwood Barney, step-grandson Thomas Bisbee, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Roger W. Barney and son Jonathan L. Barney died before her.
Jane was a loving wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, accomplished gerontologist, leading advocate for the poor and the underrepresented, local Democratic Party official, and devoted friend to many.
