James Douglas Knight, age 70, died on Friday, July 9, 2021 with his loving family at his side. James was born on November 17, 1950 to Myron (Nip) and Mary Jo Knight. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of forty-five years, son, Andrew (Amanda), daughter Karen (JW) Wells, grandchildren Addison, Andrew, Allegra, and Aurora. James loved his family and friends, college football, reading, Sudoku puzzles, and his country. Born and raised in Ann Arbor, he attended University of Michigan High School where he served as the senior class president. James also attended Eastern Michigan University. He was an owner of Knight’s Vending, an owner of Knight’s Real Estate, and owner of Ed’s Bread. He served as President of the National Better Vendors Association. After retirement, he volunteered for the Ocqueoc Outdoor Center Board of Directors, served as Church Council Chair at Onaway United Methodist Church, traveled, enjoyed fishing trips with his buddy, Paul, and helping neighbors. He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand and assist others with local home projects. James was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brothers and sisters Thomas (Elizabeth) Knight, Diane (Thomas) Tew, Daniel Knight, Dana (Keith) Gainey; nieces and nephews, Rhonda (Kevin) Hausermann, Kory and Travis Gainey, and Anneke Knight.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 2:00pm at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. 4th Ave, Ann Arbor, Michigan there will be visitation from 1:00pm until time of the service.
