Greg was a fine neighbor and friend. As many have said, always a smile on his face and something kind to say. I will miss Greg and I offer his family my condolences. I know that he spoke fondly of all of you many times.

I'd like wish to express my deepest sympathy to Greg's family and friends. Based on the kind words of others, it seems that Greg had changed little in the last 30+ years when I knew him.

Greg was the kind of a person everyone would be lucky to meet in his life. Always the man of his word, kind and sincere, openhearted and genuine in everything that he was doing: the person you can truly rely on.  I knew Greg since 1998 when together with my wife Iryna and my daughter Anastasiya I moved to Ann Arbor and since then I was privileged to call Greg a friend. Great deal of cherishable memories are left from that time: cheering for Red Wings together, BBQing at Greg’s house, trips to Glen Arbor, sailing or just getting together with our friends.  It’s very difficult to accept that Greg is no longer here. He will always be remembered for whom he was, his intelligence and great sense of humor, his hospitality and openness to all people, and his strong stand on what’s right and what’s wrong… and will always be missed…

I am so saddened to hear of Greg's passing, which has come much too early. He was a wonderful individual, surrounded by a loving family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Greg's family and friends.

I am deeply sorry to hear about Greg's untimely passing. He was a good friend and the best next door neighbor, one who was always kind and genuinely caring. Greg will be greatly missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of grieving.

I flew with Greg at ATA and was in new hire class with him at Kalitta. He was a very kind and generous person who was always a joy to be around. My condolence go out to all his family and friends. Rest in piece my friend. You will be missed.

I knew Greg only briefly but quickly learned of his kindness and gentleness and helpfulness to all who crossed his path.  My condolences to the family for this unfortunate and untimely loss.

Fondest memories of growing up with a wonderful cousin and friend. Thanks for my first Petoskey. I will cherish it always. You will be missed cuz Greg.

I used to be a frequent guest at Greg's house in Ann Arbor. We shared mutual friends, evenings with famous Greg's "BBQ ribs" and music, trips to the North of Michigan, visiting friends around the area, listening to the concerts and, at times, just relaxing in a big and small social settings. I remember his cheerful message on his phone right after the automatic voice with "you have reached the voicemail of Greg, HAYES!!!!!" 
It was at Greg's house in the evening of September 11th, 2001, when we were sitting in a deep shock and tried uselessly to find the words to explain the disaster that happened in New York the same morning. We saw how devastated Greg was by only imagining what his colleagues-pilots had to go through in that situation...
Years passed, we moved to New York. Greg visited and stayed with Sergei Asya and myself in our apartment in Rye. After awhile we lost a contact one with another, however, Greg's birthday was on my list and, every year, I would send a message to wish him well on October 27th. 
What happened to him on August 5th came in sudden and it is still difficult to process. All I can say, that I will remember his unconditional kindness, good humor, openness and readiness to share anyone's joy or grief.

Greg was one of the great ones.  Very funny, loved being a pilot, kind to everyone, extremely smart and talented.

We flew together at Zantop, and I sat with him in ground school on his recall at Kalitta.  The last time I saw him, we had just went around the world together.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his Mom and Dad, sister, and Chuck.  He always spoke highly of his family...

Greg left a mark on everyone who met him. A man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. The "freight dog", he loved his profession and wouldn't want to retire. Let his spirit soar high above Lake Michigan. My deepest condolences to Greg's family.

I flew with Greg at ATA many times.  He was a great pilot and a real nice guy to have a beer with and just hang out.  He is Good people and I will miss him.

  My thoughts and prayers go out to Greg and his family, this was a shock to all of you, I'm sure.  My husband, Ed Folcik flew many times with Greg and he absolutely thought the world of him. It'll be 4 yrs since Ed died suddenly too, so, I know your pain and grief. The good guys seem to leave us too early, but, I know this, there are many pilots that have gone before us and i know they're all together welcoming Greg. You were a wonderful guy, Greg.  You will be missed.
