George Lloyd Hinman Jr.

George Lloyd Hinman Jr. passed away in his home on May 1, 2024, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 70. George is survived by his wife, Deborah; his sons, Gabe (Becky) and Gideon (fiancée Laura); his brothers, Geoff (Kathy), Cory (Verna), Tony (Shannon), and Chic (Laura); and his grandsons, Isaac and Oliver. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anna Negake and George Hinman Sr., as well as his sister, Renee Gibson.

George was born on November 25, 1953, in Bay City, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1994 with a doctorate in German linguistics. He married Deborah (Rubenstein) Hinman in 1988 and they moved to Ann Arbor where they first met to raise their family.

George was passionate about playing and listening to music and was an accomplished guitarist. He also enjoyed chess, historical wargames, and other games that he played with his friends and sons. He was an avid reader of historical and classical literature in English and German. He frequently walked with Deborah and their malamutes in Hudson Mills. He is remembered as a kind soul and loving father and grandfather

Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. 4th Avenue, Ann Arbor. All are welcome to attend and celebrate George’s life.
