Fred was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on April 17, 1924. A life-long resident of Ann Arbor Fred honed and mastered skills in the plaster and repair business in his early work days. He designed and built the home in which he and Eileen would start their family. Fred was known and respected in the community as a wood craftsman. He had a passion for working with natural woods, his favorite being walnut, and designed, crafted and created many beautiful furniture pieces over the years. Fred’s bar creations could be found in local taverns and restaurants.
Fred met his wife Eileen Mae Olds of Cone, Michigan and they were married 72 years, sadly she preceded him in death on February 11, 2017. Together they raised six active children. Over the years they enjoyed gardening, canning pickles and sauerkraut. Cooking and celebrating the taste of good foods with family and friends was Fred’s loving outreach to those in his life.
Fred is survived by daughter, Sally Bauer Conn (Gary) and sons Daniel (Patricia) Bauer, John Bauer, Phillip (Rynda) Bauer. Grandsons Joseph (Tammy) Bauer, Jim (Kelly) Bauer, Michael Bauer, granddaughters Michelle (Joe) Caryl, Kelly (Bob) Piccaro, Arjan Kaur Khalsa.
