Dorothy Jean (neé Taylor) Beck, age 78, of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022. Dorothy was born September 8, 1943 in Maple Creek, Nebraska, the daughter of Cecil and Helen ( neé Perkins) Taylor. Dorothy was married to Eugene Beck for almost 55 years. He survives and is left to cherish her memory. Dorothy cherished her family and loved them dearly, and enjoyed cooking her famous turkey dinners for them. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and taking part in their interests, and rarely missed their sporting events. Dorothy loved sending cards of encouragement to friends and family. She especially enjoyed cardinals and gardening, and serving at church in various capacities. She was a faithful member of Ann Arbor Baptist Church, and shared fellowship with many of her friends remaining at Temple Baptist Church in Powell, TN. Dorothy also leaves behind her children: Rodney (Jennifer) Beck, Debbie (Jewell) Mizell, Mark (Christina) Beck, Mike (Juli) McIntosh: sisters Joyce Holmes, Arlene (Jim) Cross, Elvin (Joyce) Taylor, and Leta (Dennis) Grothen: grandchildren, David, Daniel, Hanna and Haylee Beck; Alexander, Taylor, and Megan Mizell; Justin, Christopher, Dylan, Elijah, Marissa, and Audrey Beck; Hunter and Aiden Ashburn; Grant Woodworth; Chelsea (Jed) Daily, Allison (Michael) Gathwright; and Jacob (Zoe) McIntosh: great grandchildren, Layla, Anna Molly, and Jolene Daily; Michael, Reese, Tellie, and Lucas Gathwright; Elliott and Lia McIntosh. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. Dorothy was preceded in death by parents Cecil and Helen Taylor, brother Richard Taylor, brother-in-law Clair Holmes, nephews Bradley Holmes and Anthony Grothen, and great-niece Abigail Reiser. A visitation for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ann Arbor Baptist Church, 2150 South Wagner Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48103, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. officiated by Pastor, Jonathan Barber. Burial will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ann Arbor Baptist in her memory.
