Carol graduated to her heavenly home Wednesday, January 24, 2018 just 7 days after her 80th birthday. She had a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia, COPD, and congestive heart failure. Carol was born January 17, 1938 in Bay City, Michigan, the daughter of Harold A. and Mildred L. Kasemeyer.
She graduated from T.L. Handy High School in Bay City in 1956, studied at Bay City Beauty College and received a diploma from them in August 1956. She worked as a beautician until the fall of 1957 when she entered Bay City Junior College and then Central Michigan University. Carol graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in education in July 1961. She married Robert E. Wood, also from Bay City on February 24, 1962.
Carol taught early elementary school in Bay City, Garden City, and Milan and continued her education at Eastern Michigan University working toward a master's degree in education until they adopted their first child Gregory A. Wood in 1967. In 1968 they adopted their second child Sheryl L. Wood. She loved teaching and took a personal interest in her students. She continued to do substitute teaching on and off for about 10 years after that. Carol attended Covenant Community Church with her husband since 1989.
She is survived by her husband Robert, son Gregory Wood, daughter Sheryl Morgan, granddaughter Amy Therrian, grandsons Conner and Alex Wood, and great granddaughter Taylor Therrian.
Her body is laid to rest at Washtenong Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at Covenant Community Church at 11:00 am Saturday, March 17.
