Arlene V. Huff, 79, passed away November 27, 2017 peacefully at home. Arlene was born November 6, 1938 to Hubert H. & Ellen T. Huff in Detroit Michigan. After attaining a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University in Detroit, she devoted her career to helping others, first in substance abuse and later in maternal health matters with the University of Michigan Health System. In retirement Arlene traveled the world, visiting the Great Wall of China, riding a camel in Egypt, and attending Shakespearean Festivals in Canada and England. She also appreciated Opera with the NY Metropolitan Opera.
Arlene is survived by her brothers, Hugh (Mary) Huff of San Mateo, CA; Gordon Huff of Newbury Park, CA, and Kenneth (Judi) Huff of Bridgman, MI. She has two nephews, Brian Huff of San Francisco, CA, and Nathan Huff of Isanti, MN, and three nieces, Christine (Andrew) Morton of Fremont, CA, Emily (Christopher) Sears of Maysville, KY, and Joni (Dan) Krapec of Oak Lawn, IL.
Arlene worked on behalf of several social justice causes, through her church organization.
Memorial donations in Arlene’s name may be made to The First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor, 4001 Ann Arbor Saline Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
A memorial gathering and service will be held at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service, 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018.
