Virginia B. Scheppele Linde

Virginia Linde, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away surrounded by her children, on October 11, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Virginia was born to Emanuel and Clara Scheppele March 25, 1921, in Waterloo, Iowa. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Scheppele of Waterloo; her sons, Barry (Marcy) Linde, and Jerry (Julie) Linde; her daughters, Becky (Mike) Monaghan and Chris (Randy) Albaugh, all of Ankeny; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; brother, Everett Scheppele; and sister, Lucille Frank.

Virginia and Elmer were married on January 6, 1946. They moved to Ankeny, Iowa in 1971. Virginia was a long-time member of the Ankeny Church of the Brethren. She was active in volunteer work. She enjoyed visiting and assisting others that she met through a number of groups, such as Sunny View Care Center and the Church of the Brethren. One of the great joys in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her strength and faith throughout her years of treatment serves as an inspiration to all who knew her. She was especially grateful to Dr. Robert Shreck and the staff at John Stoddard Cancer Center for the many years of caring treatment.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Ankeny Church of the Brethren, 417 SE Grant St. from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Funeral Services will be Friday, October 15 at 10:30 AM, at the church, with interment following at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the John Stoddard Cancer Center in loving memory of Virginia.
