Saw Tha Gay, the second son of Saw Penh Roh and Ma Kadee, was born on March 19, 1968, in Tah Kreh village. He attended school until the fourth grade before fleeing to Thailand due to civil war, making his family and him refugees. In the refugee camp, he met and married Mamyinttha, the youngest daughter of Saw Poe Nu and Naw Neiy Gyi on April 6, 1991. They had three sons and a daughter: Poe Thu Thu, Sa Meh Tos, Shar Plat Moo and Bleh Bloh Moo.
In 2007, They moved to America and Settled in Boise, Idaho, where they lived for five years before moving to Des Moines, Iowa, in 2012 for better job opportunities. They resided in Des Moines for over 12 years.
On February 11, 2025, Saw Tha Gay was admitted to Iowa Lutheran Hospital and later transferred to Iowa Methodist Medical Center for urgent care. He was diagnosed with critical liver failure and passed away on February 20, 2025, at 8:04 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 West First Street, Ankeny, Iowa 50023. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ankeny Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the service.
