Ruth V. Jones

Ruth V. Jones, 87, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away February 21, 2018, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston of kidney failure. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m., until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First St. Ankeny, IA 50023). Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 26, at Ankeny Baptist Church (2842 SW 3rd St. Pl. Ankeny, IA 50023). Burial will follow at the Chariton Cemetery.

Ruth was born on March 12, 1930 on a farm 5 miles North of Chariton to James W. and Blanche L. Adams. She attended Brush College School through 5th grade. In 1941, they moved to Chariton. She graduated from Chariton H.S. in 1948. While in high school, she worked at Keith Gartin Grocery.

On July 4, 1948 she wed Richard L. Jones and to this union 2 children were born; Robert W. and Sandra K. They lived in Ottumwa, Chariton and Ankeny. After the kids were out of the house, she went to work part time at Young Villagers Children’s Clothing Store in Ankeny. Ruth was a long time member of Ankeny Baptist Church and had accepted Christ as her Savior.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Leland Adams, 2 sisters, Mildred Chamberlain and Letha Cherryholmes, 3 nieces, 2 nephews and her husband of 65 years, Richard L. Jones.

Ruth is survived by a brother, J.J. (Juanita) Adams of Chariton; son, Bob (Debi) of Des Moines; daughter, Sandi (Dan) Di Marco of Apple Valley, MN; four grandsons, Ben and Nick Jones of Des Moines and Andy and Shaun Di Marco of Minnesota; eleven great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; one great-great granddaughter; several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives and friends.
