He was born on December 31, 1942, in Osceola IA, the son of Don and Regina Perry. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1961 and from Iowa State University in 1965 with an Education Degree in Foreign Language. His first job in 1965 was teaching Spanish at Ankeny Junior High School. In 1966 he married Betty Jean Eeten his college sweetheart, after she graduated from Iowa State University. His next job was at Des Moines Area Community College in the admissions office. He then became a counselor for the Dental Hygiene department. He then finished up his career as the Dean of Evening and Weekend College before retiring.
Mike and Betty enjoyed playing in their two monthly card groups with close friends. They mainly played bridge and pinochle and also enjoyed 500 with family. They were usually very busy with a full slate of Iowa State athletics events, They had season tickets for football, men's and women's basketball. They went to many Big 12 basketball tournaments in Kansas City. Go Cyclones!
He was preceded in death by a daughter Alison (Perry) Thompson, son Todd Perry, and Parents Don, and Regina Perry.
Mike is survived by his wife of 56 years Betty and his son Troy. His son-in-law Kenny Thompson (Heather), grandchildren Tyler Thompson (Kate), Madison Thompson, Logan Krier, Jackson Thompson, several great-grandchildren, brother Jon Perry and sister, Ronda Stump (Mike), numerous nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 10:00 am at the Ankeny Presbyterian Church. 317 SE Trilein Dr. The service will follow at 11:00 am and a luncheon will be served following the service. Burial will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery after the luncheon.
