Lisa Kay Suchanek

Lisa Kay Suchanek passed away in her home on June 3, 2024 at the age of 62 following a prolonged struggle with congestive heart failure. She was surrounded by the ones she loved the most. She was born on February 8, 1962 to Richard and Kay James. After graduating from Perry Central high school in 1980, she earned her degree in computer programming from Indiana State University. In 1986, Lisa got married and had three children, spending the initial years of her life creating cherished memories in Indiana.

In 1998 she met the love of her life, Brian, in Springfield Illinois.

In 2000 following the death of her grandma Cassidy, Lisa made her biggest decision yet and moved to Iowa with her two daughters leaving behind the comfort of the familiar hometown in, Indiana, beginning the next chapter of her life alongside her husband and best friend Brian. After retiring from her career as a revenue agent for the Iowa Department of Revenue, she dedicated her time to helping raise and care for her grandsons, Logan and Leo. They brought her immense joy and she took great pride in watching them grow and develop their own unique personalities. Her final wish was fulfilled when she got to see her grandson, Logan, graduate from high school on May 22, 2024.

Lisa was known for always creating a warm and welcoming environment for her family. Her cooking, cleaning, and decorating skills made her home a cozy and inviting place for friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Laz and Mildred Cassidy, parents, Richard and Kay James, uncle George Ball, Aunt Marie (Larry) Sodrel, and Aunt Fay (Charlie) Ball.

She is survived by her husband, Brian Suchanek, brother Rick (Cheryl) James, sisters, Angie Galey, Michelle (Brad) Harding, Stephanie (Mark) James, son, Jason James, daughters, Kimberly Lyons, Jean (Dan) Johnston. Her grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, and nephews. Cousin, Pammy (John) Burton, and many other cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Autism Speaks Foundation.
