If every Democrat was as passionate about their party as Lee was about the Republican Party, I would fall over from shock!

I was not able to attend today’s service but I really hope Lee will forgive me as I was literally caring for a retired disabled veteran and could not leave him to come. I’m so sorry Big guy!!! Rest In Peace my friend you will be so so missed. 

My prayers and thoughts are with the family at this time. Lee was a very devoted Republican and did much for Polk county .

Lee was with Zach Nunn and a bunch of Veterans at the office in West Des Moines.  It was the last time I saw him.

Veteran parades won't be the same without him.

The chair on the trailer is exactly where Lee would sit. Jannell and I will miss him greatly.

We spent a great deal of time together from 2017-2020 before facebook shut our Unapologetic Republican Group Down after amassing 70 thousand members. We didn't end on the best of terms, but I wanted you to know you taught me a great deal of lessons I have been able to implement in every day life. I wish we could have shared one last steak together, I had your phone number memorized and thought of contacting you often. I'll never forget hauling you out to Denver, you fell on the floor and you were ready to call the ambulance to come help you up. I wasn't about to let that happen. I hoisted you up on my back and got you propped on the bed. We had some wild journeys. Thank you so much for coming along for the ride. I hope you are at peace. Thank you for your great service to our nation.

I knew Lee through VFW & VFW Auxiliary 9662, 5th District VFW, and Dept. of Iowa VFW & VFW Auxiliary.   Memories of Lee are his Cola Cola collection, his love of BBQing, involvement in many veteran groups.  Both of us graduated from DSM East.  Several times, Lee had some of our homemade fudge & peanut clusters so that when we would run into each other, he wanted more!  Thank you Lee for your service!  Rest In Peace 

Lee was a great guy. He was always involved in the VFW. We will never forget when their was a Post meeting in Desmoines and Lee, Ward Ransford, Dennis  Able, and Paul Arnold showed up at the Hospital to see Bill and found out he needed blood.  All of them said" Where do we give blood for our brother?" 
Lee was always there to help. He will be remembered fondly.

Dang it, your Soul made it to Heaven first! 

I was blessed to of known you for so many years and will never forget the many things we attended together and birthday celebrations. 

This last year on your birthday was very special as we ate at the Iowa Beef steakhouse. It was a wonderful evening. I surprised You by picking this place as you had told me where you grew up over a decade ago. I actually pulled write in and drive up to the house and knocked on the door. The lady who answered was kind enough to visit with US. 

I could tell that made your special day even more special. It is one my last memories, but one that I will never forget. 

I was one of the very few who you shared tour love for collecting Coca Cola  memorabilia. You have the largest  unique collections of any one in Iowa. Every Christmas, I gave you a piece for your collection and you would say ‘I don’t have that, where did you get it and zi really appreciate it’. 

I know you had a file of all of the Patriot events we attended and I also have a file of photos. When I get a chance, I will pull together a tribute to a Dear Friend who left Too Soon. You will see it, I Believe! 

Thank You for being a good friend and for just being You! I will miss you dearly! 

PS..I will remember some of our last conversations as we both deeply believed ‘the  best in life is yet to come! Say Hello to everyone we both know and all Patriots! 

I got to know Lee Booton in the past few years as a member of VFW Post 9662.
He loved  to help with the Buddy Poppy drive until recently! He will be missed!

I knew Lee well through the VFW. He was always a cheerful, get-it- person. My deepest condolences to the family, he will be missed.

So sorry to hear about Cousin Lee's passing. I had little opportunity to see him in recent years, but loved our cousin gatherings in El Paso a number of years ago. It was always a pleasure to be around his fun-loving personality. Sincere condolences.  Mary Snyder Troftgruben

Lee and I would have fun at my Dad’s cabin and our back yard when I was growing up in Ames, Iowa. He was so funny and he knew everything! Your loving Cuz Sumner Knudson.

So sorry to hear of Lees passing. I am his cousin and even though I didn’t see Lee often, he was 7 years older than I was, I remember him as happy and out going. He taught me how to dance to Blueberry Hill when I was 10.
He seemed to be a man of many passions from politics to BBQ. I’m sure he will be missed and remembered.

Lee was a dedicated member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9662 where he was Commander 2002-2003. He was also State Senior Vice Commander at one time. He will be missed. Rest in peace.

It is with My Greatest Sympathy that I leave this note. Having been friends with Him for quite a few years.

Lee was one of the good guys in Ankeny.   We became friends when he umped for my sons' games years ago and stayed friends after that.  It did not matter if it was cold or hot, Lee was there to call balls and strikes...and be a friend to the kids.  Rest in peace, Blue.
