Kathleen Ann Campisi,72, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed suddenly from this life on Friday December 6th, 2024, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends and family from 5:00pm-7:30pm, on Friday December 13th, 2024, at Ankeny Funeral Home. A Memorial Service celebrating Kathleen’s life will be held on Saturday December 14th, 2024, at 9:00am at Ankeny Funeral Home.
Kathleen was born on January 30th, 1952, in Ames, Iowa, one of three children to John Robert and Marybelle (Hemping)Quinn. She was a 1970 graduate of Ankeny High School. After high school graduation, Kathleen worked as a dental assistant. Later she attended DMACC, where Kathleen obtained her Nursing degree and finished her nursing career at Broadlawn’s Medical Center. To many friends and family, she was lovingly known as “Kathy”. She thoroughly enjoyed working as a nurse and taking care of her patients. Kathleen was not only a genuinely caring person, but she was also extremely nice and never met a stranger. She loved to give and help anyone in need. She also had a special love for all animals, especially cats. Kathleen was an amazing cook, she enjoyed shopping and going to horse races. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Kathleen was a wonderful mother and friend, proud grandmother, and loving great-grandmother; she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shanda (Tim) Otten; son, Robert Ayala; one brother, Kelly (Linda Clearwater) Quinn; sister-in-law, Lee Ann Quinn; two grandchildren, Michaela (Solomon)Thorpe, and Montana Kinter; two great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Thorpe and Amari Thorpe; one niece and two nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
Kathleen was preceded into eternal life by her parents, John and Marybelle Quinn; and one brother, Don Quinn.
Throughout Kathleen’s life, she had supported the local Animal Rescue League of Iowa by adopting all her cats from the shelter. In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorials be made in Kathleen’s name to: Animal Rescue League of Iowa or made to the Campisi Family for later distribution.
