Joe was born January 20, 1965 in Peoria, IL. He resided there until his family moved to Decatur, IL in 1973. He was involved in Little League Baseball and JFL football as a kid growing up. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1983. He then enlisted in The U.S. Army and served his country with great pride until he was honorably discharged in 1987.
He met his only love and best friend. To everyone's great joy they were married in March 1996. His wife and sons were what kept him grounded and whole in life.
He was a long time employee of Bridgestone Tire (Firestone). He first worked in Decatur then in Des Moines, IA, where he finally called home.
He had an interest and love in history, fishing, cooking, and in true McCoy tradition...St. Louis Cardinal's Baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Tina of Ankeny; mother, Helen of Decatur, IL; sons, John and Zachary of Ankeny; brothers, Chuck (Cathy) of Monticello, IL and Mike (Patty) of Maroa, IL; sister, Mary (Roy) of Stewardson, IL; mother-in-law, Vicki of Decatur, IL; father-in-law, Mike of Dalton City, IL; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and coworkers. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles; brother, Patrick; nephew, Jason, and grandparents.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used for his children’s continuing education.
