Frank was born August 10th, 1951 to Ramona Lea Morton and Frank Raymond Kenney at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
He lived most of his childhood in the Chariton and Clear Lake areas before moving to Des Moines where in 1969 he graduated from Des Moines Tech High School. During those high school years, he was a member of the Letterman’s club, lettering in cross country and track and field.
In 1969 he married Michel Linden and that union produced 3 sons. In his boys’ younger years, Frank spent many hours with them at BMX tracks and even supported their passion by building their own track in their backyard where all the neighborhood kids would gather.
He held various jobs in his younger years before starting his career at Economy Forms in 1973. He later retired from there after more than 40 years as a shipping dock foreman.
Frank was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan and in 2017 took the trip of a lifetime with his boys to see them play in person and saw some of his favorite alumni players be honored on the field for their lifetime achievements.
Frank spent his free time fishing as often as he could. He enjoyed motorcycles, and classic and muscle cars, the favorite of which was his own 1964 ½ Mustang convertible. He liked to follow boxing and was a detail-oriented master of tinkering who could fix or engineer anything.
He was a proud American and a strong supporter of the Democratic party. He spent a lot of time caucusing and being involved in all aspects of politics.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Phillips, and a sister, Vicki Smith.
He is survived by his sons Todd, Troy (Nicole) & Kevin (Jill), his grandchildren Alexis, Keegan, Indya, Zane and Kayden as well as his nephews.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at a later date.
