Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 17, 2014 at Faith Baptist Church in Cambridge, Iowa with burial to follow at Cambridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Ankeny Funeral Home.
Danny Ralph Fleenor was born July 6, 1944 in Des Moines to Ralph and Gladys (Curry) Fleenor. He grew up in rural Cambridge and received his education at Ballard Community School. Upon graduation he worked in farming for five years, took diesel mechanic training, and built houses with Birkestrand Construction. In 1973 he hired out to Rock Island; worked as a brakeman till it was bought by the Chicago Northwestern R.R., then worked the CNW R.R. till it was bought out by the Union Pacific R.R. While with the CNW he attended a year training for locomotive engineer. He retired after 32 years of service on the rail road.
On February 26, 1966 Danny was united in marriage to Suzanne Earlene Chubbic in Elkhart, Iowa. The couple made their home in Callendar Iowa for five years (farming) and then moved to the Elkhart area to farm and worked at the Elkhart Elevator. In 1972 the coupled moved to Cambridge and continue to this date. They were blessed with two children, Ronald and Roxzanne. Danny was a member of Faith Baptist Church and enjoyed working with Sportsman Ministries, Social Activities, construction, remodeling and wood working projects both for the church and for others who needed help. Danny was a member of the Central Iowa Two Cylinder Tractor Club and the Central Iowa Jayco Club. He had a passion for antique tractors and working on projects. He also enjoyed going camping, fishing, four wheeling, snowmobiling, traveling, gardening, and being outdoors all with Suzanne. Most of all, Danny loved spending time with his family who will all miss him dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne; children, Ronald (Angie) Fleenor, and Roxzanne (William) Tharp; grandchildren, William II (Francis), Christopher, Brandon, Andrew Tharp, Mallory, Johnathan, Emma, and Gracie Fleenor; great-grandchildren, Allister and Annastasia Tharp, and sister, Doneita Williams; three nieces, two nephews, three great nephews, and 8 great nieces, and one spoiled Min Pin, Penny. He was preceded in death by his parents.
