Dan was a loving husband and father; his family meant everything to him. He enjoyed sitting around a fire with his family and friends; a good cigar and a glass of whiskey in hand, sharing stories of his boys growing up learning to play catch in the yard, teaching them to ride bikes, and cruising around the lake on the wave runner.
Dan was a man of many trades, but his lifelong passion was coaching gymnastics. From the age of 18 he shared his love for the sport at numerous camps, clubs, clinics, and colleges. He was the General Manager and Head Coach of Triad Gymnastics from 2017 until he passed. Before coming to Triad, he served as the Assistant Coach for the University of Nebraska Women's Gymnastics Team from 2011-2017. Prior to his collegiate coaching career, Dan spread his love and knowledge for the sport in clubs throughout the Midwest, including Arena Gymnastics in Joliet, IL, that he and his wife Beth owned until 2011. Gymnastics gave Dan the opportunity to travel all over the world and allowed him to form meaningful relationships with an unbelievable number of incredible people. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father Edward Roy Miller and brother Michael Lee Miller.
Survived by his loving wife of 23 years Beth Katherine (Benevente), beloved children: Brandon Roy and Kyle Richard. His mother Ruth Elizabeth Miller (McGahey), sisters Maureen Kay Johnson and Sheila Ann Miller, his beloved niece Katherine (Kati) Rena Parker and many other nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Daniel will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Toast, 1345 SW Park Square Dr, Ankeny, IA 50023.
