Carol Seley, 88, died January 1, 2011 in the Alzheimer’s Unit at Ramsey Village. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Ankeny First United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Greenwood Friends Cemetery.
Carol was born June 13, 1922 in Lanesboro, Iowa to Glen McCoy and Selina Olson, she was the first of five children. She grew up in Yale and the family moved to Ames her senior year where she graduated in 1938. Carol married Roy Jones and had two children. In September of 1962 Carol married LeRoy Seley who was an Ankeny Farmer. In 1976 they retired and moved to town. In 1994 Lee died and Carol stayed in her home until she moved to Ramsey Village in March of 2008. Her daughter CJ lived and cared for her for several years.
Survivors include her sons, Doyle (Jane) Seley, Donald (Becky) Jones; daughter, Carol Jeanne “CJ” Jones Stoneking; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Rose) Seley, Leslie (Mark) Seley Claxton, Alan (Lucy) Seley, Michelle (Paul) Stoneking Cappello, Robert Stoneking, and Jason Jones; and eight great grandchildren, Melanie Seley, Alyssa Claxton, Jillian Claxton, Joseph Seley, Samantha Claxton, Abby Lomas, Emily Cappello and Nathan Cappello.
She was preceded in death by husband Lee, three brothers and one sister, granddaughter Michelle Stoneking Cappello.
Carol loved to garden, quilt and bake. A lifelong Steward of God, she was active in her church and taught Sunday School, and was a member of Martha Circle.
The family would like to thank Ramsey Village and Hospice of Central Iowa for their loving care.
