Barbara Marie Seamands

Barbara M. Seamands was the daughter of Mary M. Devlin and V. Lewis Seamands, born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 23, 1946. Barbara died unexpectedly on December 22, 2012 of a heart attack. She graduated from Valley High School in 1964. After completion of school Barb was employed by General Growth, Junior Achievement and most recently by Principal Insurance where she retired in June of 2012 after twenty years.

Barb enjoyed the Des Moines Civic Center, movies, dining with her friends and traveling. She also was enjoying being with the Lay Street Ladies Breakfast Club.

Barb is survived by her brother, John (Dorothy) Seamands of Des Moines, IA, two nephews; Robert Seamands of Grimes, IA, and William (Julie) Seamands of Des Moines, IA, her special great niece, Madison, and nephew Nathan Seamands. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Ankeny Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Friday at All Saints Catholic Church in Des Moines, IA. Burial will be at 1:30 Friday at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, IA.
