A celebration of Angelita’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Ankeny Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Wes Foster. Burial will be held at Ankeny Memorial Garden’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at Ankeny Funeral Home.
Angelita T. Lowery was born April 8, 1950 in Washington D.C. to Carey and Lucille (Prophot) Lowery. She grew up in Washington D.C. before her family moved to Wisconsin. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in education from Mt. Senario and began teaching at Our Lady of Sorrows School.
On December 28, 1974 Angelita was united in marriage to Tunney Ray Jordan at Our Lady of Sorrows in Lady Smith, Wisconsin. The couple was blessed with three children, Tunney, Jeremy, and Andrea. The family ventured to Ankeny in 1997 and Angelita began teaching special education at Northview Middle School.
Angelita loved the holiday seasons, playing games, and vacationing with her family. She also enjoyed taking cruises around the world with Tunney. Angelita’s grandchildren meant the world to her and they all held a special place in her heart.
Survivors include her husband, Tunney; children, Tunney Devon Jordan, Jeremy Allen Jordan, and Andrea Ida (Travis) Dirksen; grandchildren, Skyler Dirksen, Cameron Dirksen, and Blake Dirksen; and her mother-in-law, Delores Jordan. She was preceded in death by her parents; and father-in-law, Tunney S. Jordan.
