Robert Murphy Bohanan, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, in Anaheim, California, at the age of 87. Robert was born on August 15, 1937, in Sevierville, Tennessee, to George Marshall Bohanan and Martha Elizabeth Ogal.
After graduating from Pitman High School in 1956, Robert completed one year at the University of Maryland before joining the Navy in 1960 where he proudly served as a Navy Medical Examiner. It was during this time that Robert met the love of his life, Nuvia Leon, at Pirates Tavern. They shared a beautiful 42 years of marriage, raising their two sons, Robert and Rodney, alongside their beloved family dog, Kipper, and cat, Lone.
Robert was a kind, generous, and supportive man, known for his unwavering love and care for his family and friends. He was non-judgmental, always ready to offer a listening ear or a helping hand. His warmth and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Robert had a love for gambling, particularly enjoying the thrill of slot machines, and he also had a passion for horses and sports, especially football and basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Martha Bohanan; his wife, Nuvia Bohanan; his son, Robert Bohanan; his sister, Betty Gene Rhyne; and his brother, Michael Bohanan.
Robert's legacy will continue to live on through his son, Rodney D. Bohanan; his two grandsons, James and Aaron; his two granddaughters, Yzabelle and Dalene; his five brothers, Ed, Carl, Frank, Rick, and Bill; his sister, Mary Helen Johnson; and his daughter-in-law, Vilma.
A loving family man and a friend to all, Robert’s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
A visitation for Robert will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Anaheim, 2425 West Lincoln Ave, Anaheim, CA 92801, followed by a funeral service from 4:00 PM
