Raul R. Ortiz

He was born on September 24, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, cherished son of Maria Mendoza and Trinidad Ortiz. He and Juanita wed on January 2, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois.

Raul was born and raised in South Chicago. He graduated from Tilden Tech High School and served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1953. After being honorably discharged, he attended Central Tech Institute of Kansas City, MO, where he studied electrical engineering. He was offered multiple opportunities across the country and accepted an Electronic Engineer position with Northrop, thus moving his family to sunny Southern California in 1957. He worked there for 35 dedicated years.

Raul was a loyal and avid Notre Dame fan who watched his favorite team play around the country. His love and devotion to the team have passed along to many of his children and grandchildren; They will continue to root blue and gold in honor of his name.

He enthusiastically watched and coached his children's Pop Warner football, Little League baseball, and cheerleading endeavors.

On any given day, you would see him, relaxing and enjoying a classic movie from the comfort of his recliner chair.

Raul was a deeply involved parishioner who dedicated much of his time to building up the church through various activities including landscaping, food bank services, teaching the Sisters to drive, painting the schoolʼs basketball courts and hopscotches for the children to enjoy, and the annual fiesta.

Raul is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita of Cypress, CA; loving children, Louis (Linda), Maria (Steve), Carmelyn (Dennis), Juanita (Rick), Raul (Lisa), David (Julie),Cristina (Marc), and Dolores; his 20 grandchildren and 20 and counting great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Raul will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a vigil at 6:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Anaheim, 2425 West Lincoln Ave, Anaheim, CA 92801. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Saint Irenaeus Church, 5201 Evergreen Ave., Cypress, CA 90630. A burial will follow immediately at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4471 Lincoln Ave., Cypress, CA 90630.
