Maria Teresa Cuevas was born on August 27th 1924, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Her mother passed away when she was a child and she was raised by her aunt and various family members. Teresa always had a nurturing heart, she was a nurses aide in her early years. Even though she did not have a much of an immediate family, she built her own with children, granchildren, and even great grandchildren. She was know to most as Teresa, Teresita, Tere, Mother, Gueli, and to many of us, Grandma. In 1945, she met Samuel and only one year later they married. In 1951, Samuel and Teresa moved their family to Brooklyn, NY. In 1983, they moved to Buena Park, CA. Teresa loved to travel and was able to visit family and friends all over the country. Finally in 1999, Teresa was able to live her dream of going to Spain - the motherland. She enjoyed planting her various types of fruits and vegetables in her garden, but she especially loved planting her beautiful roses. She took such pride in everything she did, from growing her beautiful rose garden, to cooking a delicious home cooked meal, not only for her own family but for anyone who had the pleasure of becoming a friend or adopted family member. She loved and cared for everyone in her life and did whatever she could for those in need. She was truly a blessing to all.
Teresa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her beloved husband Samuel, children Doris and Reno, grandchildren John, Rebecca, Michelle, and Victoria, as well as her great-grandchildren Vincent and Veronica.
