Angelica E. Villalpando passed away on Thursday, May 4th, 2023, at the age of 56. Angelica was born on Monday, January 23rd, 1967, to Soledad and Nick Cano. Angelica was the youngest out of her siblings. During her last moments, she was surrounded by her family and left this Earth peacefully. Angelica was a wonderful mother to daughter, Gabriella Villalpando and a loving wife to husband, Gabriel Villalpando.
Angelica battled with Leukemia and proved to be a strong warrior ‘til the very end. Even through it all, she didn’t allow the sickness to take away her spark. Those that knew her appreciated her spunky, humorous, and glowing energy that she brought into a room. Angelica loved singing and jamming out to oldies, funk, and R&B music. She loved celebrating her birthday at Original Mike’s by busting a move on the dance floor with her friends and family. Angelica also loved the color purple. She wanted almost everything and anything to be the color purple, from her nail color to the ink color of her pens. Angelica loved spending quality time with her family by getting breakfast at her favorite spots like Uncle Pete’s, Flappy Jack’s, or at The Filling Station. On Friday’s, she enjoyed date nights with her husband, Gabriel by going to Sizzlers and sometimes, ending the day in Newport Beach.
Angelica began her career with the Social Services Agency in 1994 as an Office Assistant in the Centralized Operations Unit and made her way to Procurement in 2002 as a Staff Assistant. She became a Procurement Buyer in 2005 and Procurement Contract Specialist in 2007. During her time in Procurement, Angelica successfully established and maintained high impact contracts that benefited SSA and served our community with pride and grace. In her 27 years with the County of Orange, Angelica was an invaluable asset to the SSA Procurement team and the entire DPA community. Angelica retired from the County of Orange on April 19th, 2023.
Angelica will be missed dearly and will never leave our hearts. We will always remember her through all the memories we created with her. Before her passing, Angelica stated she will come back as a butterfly and to look out for them when she’s gone. Angelica is now reunited with her mother, Soledad, her sister, Mary Helen, her brother, Nick, and her first daughter, Gabriela in Heaven.
