Everyone is invited out to the cemetery for the committal service. Following the burial, there will be a time of food and fellowship at the church.
Born in Greenville, Mississippi, Robert was a man of unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication. He shared 46 cherished years of marriage with his beloved wife, Julie Ann (Drummond) Clark, whom he met in his youth and married on April 7, 1979, at Unity Baptist Church in Greenville. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and service.
Robert’s career began in welding inspection, but his true calling came as a lead in the Industrial Drafting and Design team at Todd and Sargent, where he worked passionately for 36 years. Colleagues remember him not only for his expertise but for his warmth and integrity, which made the company feel like a second family. In 1990, Robert and Julie relocated to Ames with their young children, Cason and Kaylyn, in pursuit of new opportunities—a testament to his devotion to providing the best for his family.
A man of diverse passions, Robert found joy in music, classic cars, and tinkering in his garage. His eclectic taste spanned The Beatles, blues, gospel, and country, often shared with loved ones during gatherings around Julie’s Sunday dinners. He embodied selflessness, whether helping strangers in need, mentoring friends, or reveling in his role as “Papaw” to his five adoring grandchildren.
Though Robert retired in January 2025, health challenges soon arose, leaving him little time to enjoy this chapter. Yet his legacy endures through his family: his wife Julie; children Cason (Katie) Clark and Kaylyn (Matthew) Christianson; grandchildren Ashton, Lawson, Lola, Levi, and Owen; His Mother (BigMama)Mary Clark, Sister Cindy (Dennis) Gilliam, Donna (David) Chenevert, Cindy (Ardie) Drummond and countless friends who cherished his wisdom and gentle spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, (BigDaddy)Billy Clark; (Pop)Raymond Ross Drummond I ; Grandparents Ollie Lea Couey, (Lady)Henri Etta Pickett Couey, Aunt Debra Lea Couey Vanhoozer, and Allen Clark.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that acts of kindness be performed in Robert’s memory, honoring his lifelong commitment to helping others. Condolences may be shared online at www.stevensmemorialchapel.com.
