I am so sorry for your loss. I remember going Pheasant hunting with him several times over the years as well as seeing him at school when I was younger. I enjoyed his company and and our short visits in the back yard. He always spoke highly of his loving wife and children. Your Father was a great example to young men such as myself.

My deepest condolences to you in your loss.  I cant say it any better then Neil Van Slyke so nicely posted. I have fond memories of this very easy going and friendly man. He will be missed by many.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your dad, a wonderful man.  I knew him well as a district employee for many years and always enjoyed a conversation with him whenever I'd run into him.   Invariably he'd talk about his children, and my thoughts go out to all of you, especially Jeff, Gary, and Lisa, whom I fortunate enough to have in class or know best.  
Everyone respected Ray with his friendly and easy-going way with everyone he knew.  
Our world needs more like him....selfless and dedicated.

We so enjoyed Ray here at Westhaven.  So glad he is back together with Charlotte.  He loved his family, and the two of them would so look forward to the weekend visits in Ames.  He loved music, and would join us to sing hymns during our chapel services.  A good man.

I will always remember Grandpa Ray well. He always helped anyone in need: tilling gardens, helping a friend down the street with her geese,etc.. Family was most important to him, and he would do anything for them. You could never go over to their old house without family being there. It was always a party, whether it was a birthday, Christmas, or just a Monday, it didn't matter. I will always remember him as a hardworker & an outdoors man. He worked until late in his life, always ran errands for Grandma, did yardwork for neighboors, and in the evening he would go fishing, hunting, look for golf balls by the golfcourse & hunt for nightcrawlers at night. He would also go to church every Sunday before the nursing home, and many times by himself. If we weren't out doing these things with Grandpa, we would all just sit and talk, play games and laugh all night. In his later years I really saw his true love for Grandma, a love that I hope to have. These are the things I will always remember about grandpa & our Christmases will never be the same without him and Grandma.

I knew Ray later on in his life. He was a very funny man. Always asking how many kids I have. I always answered him the same way. Just one, a little girl, and tell him her name. Every time he heard my daughter's name he would light up and tell me he has a granddaughter with the same name. I would just smile at him. He loved to talk about pets as well. He will definitely be missed.

Ray was a wonderful man who loved his family and friends he had a heart of gold he will be missed but he is home now with the father singing praises he may be gone for a time but never forgoten

in some way i hope you get a little comfort from this.
