Michael Lee Deaton Sr. was born on March 11, 1950 to Carroll Rex and Mildred Irene (Slippy) Deaton in Ames, Iowa. He graduated from Zearing High School in 1968. After high school, Michael enlisted into the United States Army and served his country honorably until his discharge in September 9 of 1971.
Michael was united in marriage to Peggy Sue Mayfield. on November 4, 1972 in Ames, Iowa. There were two children to this union, Michael Jr and Maria. He enjoyed camping, and fishing. He was a skilled woodworker who enjoyed making wooden butterfly’s and name plaques for the family. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He worked for Freel Sanitation for over 30 years.
Michael is survived by his two children, Michael Jr and his wife, Amy of Boone, and Maria and her husband, Shawn Hall of Ames; four siblings, Jerry Deaton of Nevada, Joyce Johannes and her husband, Wayne, of Tama, Iowa, Larry Deaton and wife, Banita of McCallsburg, Iowa, and Lynn Deaton and wife, Rhonda of Huxley; eight grandchildren, Sacha, Marya, Austin, Desiree, Jon, Natalie, Adam, and Brooklyn; one great granddaughter, Akaylia; three great grandsons, Luca, Malakai, and Sawyer; many nieces and nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by wife, Peggy Sue Deaton, parents, Carroll and Mildren Deaton; sister, Marilyn Allhouse, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
