Donald Paul Ball, age 65, of Boone, Iowa passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022. Services will be held at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames on Saturday, September 24th, with visitation from 9 - 11 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 am. The burial of his ashes will take place at the Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.
Donald was born June 9, 1957, in Ames, Iowa to Cliff and Delores (Ferguson) Ball. He graduated from Ames High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1976-1986. During his time in the Army, he had the opportunity to serve in Germany guarding the ammunition and was an instructor training the motor pool. Don received at Army Achievement Award for being an Outstanding Leader.
Don married his first wife, Jody Powers (the mother of Janet, Cliff, and D.J.) in 1976 and was blessed to marry his second wife, Cindy Gibson, in 1987. He was an avid sports fan cheering on Cyclones, the Patriots, the Bears, and the KC Chiefs. He loved to laugh and have fun and being the instigator; from jumping out and scaring people, to telling jokes, to being the cool bus driver the kids loved. His most cherished times were spending it with his family around bonfires, boating, and card games going into the wee hours of the morning. Don also had a great memory, recalling events that took place and being able to say exactly what he was doing at the time.
Left to cherish his memory, include his wife, Cindy; children, Janet Collazzo, Inamra (Kenny) Long, Clifford (Sara) Ball, DJ (Eden) Ball, and Amanda Brant; grandchildren, Eddie Rankin, Jordan Hance, Katlynn Mayse, Carston Mayse, Birdgit Mayse, Ally Ball, Hailey Brant, Abby Ball, Morgan Ball, and Betty Ball; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Maddie Mayse, and Raelynn Coffman on the way; mother, Delores Janet Ball; siblings, James Ball and Linda Curnes; uncles, Tom (Connie) Ball and Wayne Ball; brother-in-law, Dean Hubby; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad, Clifford Ball, and sister, Vicki Hubby.
