Deborah Gay Clark of Ames, passed away March 23, 2016 at Bethany Manor in Story City, IA. from complications of multiple sclerosis. A Memorial Service will be at 10:00am Saturday April 9, 2016 at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 9:00am.
Deborah Gay Clark was born May 3, 1949 in Ames Ia. to Alice Gaynell (Gabielson) Clark and George Forrest Clark. She grew up on a farm east of Ames. She attended North Grant School and Ames Schools, graduating from Ames High in 1967. Debbie attended the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University receiving a degree in Elementary Education in 1972. She took a job with the Humeston School District part of Mormon Trails School system. She taught in the little town of LeRoy a few miles from Humeston. After seven years of teaching, she took a job at Iowa State University in the library. She worked there several years until her health began to deteriorate.
In her younger years, Debbie enjoyed her life on the farm. She belonged to 4H showing livestock and other exhibits, and she had the company of her horse Dutchess. Debbie was confirmed at the Bethesda Lutheran church in Ames. She was a person of strong faith.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brothers George (Linda) of Wilmington, N.C., Paul (Lisa) of Story City, IA. and Jim of Ames. Her nephews David, Brian and a niece Ann, also and Uncle and Aunts and several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mainstream Living of Ames, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
