The family will receive guests on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St in Amarillo. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 10am in Llano Cemetery section 2A with Justin Reich presiding.
Wilmer was born on July 31, 1951 in Matador, Texas to Joe Marcus and Corine (Archer) McKay. The family relocated to Silverton, Texas, and would finally settle in Amarillo in 1957. He began his education at Summit Elementary School. Following elementary school, he would go on to attend Sam Houston Jr High and then finally graduated from Amarillo High School.
Wilmer was a lifelong baker. He retired from Meads Bakery in 1990. Wilmer was a man of many passions. He loved to sit and play his guitar. A lover of music, none were above “The King” Elvis Presley. He was a loving brother, uncle, and friend to all who were blessed to know him. He will be dearly missed.
Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents Joe Marcus and Corine McKay. Those left to cherish his memories are his four aunts, two uncles, sisters Linda Graves and husband Jerry, Ronda Williams and husband Kendrick; nephews Aron Jones and wife Megan, Brandon Jones, Steven Barham, and Jonathan Barham, nieces Stephanie Barham, Brooke Barham, and Brittany Barham. Wilmer also leaves behind his great nieces Tiger Lily, Clover, and Nalysa Jones, Aubree Barnett, and Harper Barnham; and great nephews Damian Barnett, William Barham, Ian Fitzsomes, and Liam Barham; all of which he was incredibly proud of.
