Weldon Leo Snider 85 of Amarillo Passed away March 27, 2011. Services will be Thursday March 31, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Pastor Perry Hunsaker and Pastor Lynn Snider officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home from 5-7 PM Wednesday March 30, 2011. Services under direction of Griggs-Schooler- Gordon Funeral Home.
Weldon Leo Snider was born December 30, 1925 in Penelope, Tx. He served in the United States Navy as a 1st Class Motor Machinist from 1943 to 1946 aboard the Naval Patrol Board Craft USPCE touring the Aleutians and the South Pacific. Weldon was a graduate of Elm Mott High School and Central City Commercial College in Waco, Texas where he studied accounting. He married Melba Jeannette Isaacs on November 18, 1949. The couple moved to Amarillo in 1949 to take a position with SIC as an accounting clerk ultimately attaining the position of Vice President and Controller of Western National Life. He was an active and long time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served in numerous leadership postions. Weldon coached Little League baseball and football. He loved the Lord, his family, the mountains, fishing and the Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Henry Snider and Mattie Velma Wells Snider, brother Thomas Henry Snider II, brother William Eugene Snider, brother John Robert Snider, sister Marie Wynette Snider Haley, sister Velma Jo Snider Schneider.
