Visitation will be held Thursday, August 8th at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell Street in the Pioneer Chapel from 5 to 7 pm. A Rosary will follow at 7pm. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas of the Apostle Catholic Church at 4100 S. Coulter Street, at 10 am Friday morning.
Lovingly called by his middle name, Jay was born to John and Narcisa Slaton in 1985. He graduated from Randall High School in 2003. Jay was an avid movie watcher and sports fanatic always watching and cheering for his favorite baseball team, the Texas Rangers. He was known for his great friendship and loyalty to his family and friends. Jay was the kind of person anyone could rely on in any time of need, and he would always leave messages of greetings, love, and appreciation to those who were close to him every holiday and birthday. According to those who knew him, Jay had the biggest heart to match his smile.
He is preceded in death by four grandparents and two uncles. Jay is survived by his father, John, and his mother, Narcisa of Amarillo, Texas.
He is survived by his brothers, Byron (Grand Rapids, Michigan) and Phil (Amarillo, Texas), and his sister, Megan (Baltimore, Maryland). Jay is survived by three aunts, one uncle, and many cousins.
