Thomas was born January 23, 1929 in Los Angeles to Thomas and Bertha Ryder. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years and 5 days of service, at the Amarillo Air Force Base. He was a Korean War Veteran. Thomas received his Masters degree from West Texas State University and then taught Industrial Arts at Fannin Junior High before retiring from there. He was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church and was also a member of the DAV, and a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Amarillo. Thomas loved to bowl and enjoyed swimming and traveling. He was a man who just loved life. He was very family oriented who loved his children and entire family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lilo Ryder and two sons Pete and Raymond Ryder.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Audrey Ryder of Amarillo; his children, Frank Ryder and wife Charlotte, Robert Ryder and wife Jo Ellen, LouAnne Williams and Logan Williams and wife Angela; also by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
