Sandra Kay Edwards (Cobb), born on November 29, 1944, in San Angelo, Texas, to Beatrice Oren Cobb (Wojtek) and James Walker Cobb, ascended to her heavenly home on December 10, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas. Sandra spent her formative years in San Angelo, where she attended San Angelo Central High School. She continued her education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where she met her husband, Dennie Myrl Edwards, Sr. Most of Sandra's married life was spent in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she actively participated in her community as a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a bowling league. Later, she moved back to San Angelo, Texas, where she retired after a fulfilling career as the county clerk for Tom Green County, serving ten years in Wills and Probates. In addition to her professional life, Sandra was involved with the Pythian Sisters and the Women's Texas Republican Party.
Known for her warmth and hospitality, Sandra cherished time spent with family, cooking, and hosting delightful gatherings. She had a special love for decorating her home for the holidays and crafting beautiful wreaths for all occasions. Ultimately, Sandra moved to Amarillo, Texas, to be near her daughter, Melissa Elyce Griffith (Edwards), and her family.
Sandra is survived by her son, Dennie Myrl Edwards, Jr., and his spouse, Jennifer Daspit; her daughter, Melissa Elyce Griffith (Edwards), and her spouse, Christopher David Griffith; her sister, Joyce Anne Pollock (Cobb); and her beloved grandchildren, Katelyn Elyce Griffith, Abigail Malhiet, Douglas Walker Edwards, Ashley Malhiet, Molly Trahan, and Kaityn Trahan.
Sandra was preceded in death by her daughter, Deidra Kay Edwards (06/25/1979); her husband, Dennie Myrl Edwards, Sr. (02/05/2002); her father, James Walker Cobb (08/22/1996); and her mother, Beatrice O. Cobb (Wojtek) (01/21/2008).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Pythian's Children's Home in Weatherford, TX, in Sandra's memory. Please visit Texas Pythian's Children's Home to donate, specifying that it is for a memorial for Sandra Edwards. Living household plants or perennials are also welcome for those who prefer to give a living tribute.
Sandra will always be remembered for her loving spirit and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
