Robert "Wally" George, age 73, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:30pm, Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
Wally was born on November 12, 1950 to Norris C. George and Elizabeth Ann Stewart in Tilden, Nebraska. He graduated from O'Neill High School in 1968. After high school, he went to Colorado to study mechanics. He later joined the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam War. He serviced helicopters during his time in the Army. Following discharge from the service, he farmed for a period of time and then went on to practice his mechanic skills in Nebraska and then in Texas. Wally had a special interest in helicopters and loved doing mechanic work. Wally was the type of man to tell you how it is. He was also very helpful and had a kind heart. He always enjoyed hunting anything he could hunt and going fishing. Wally also had a special knack for teasing his niece, Gretchen.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are his brother, Norman George, of O'Neill, Nebraska; his sisters, Diana Clark, of Skokie, Illinois and Annette Gruber, of Roca, Nebraska; and his four nephews and one niece.
