Services will be Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories at Memorial Park Funeral Home with Tijuana Taylor of Seed of Savior Ministries in Longview, Texas officiating.
Raymond was born January 10, 1942 in Perryton, Texas. Raymond grew up in Amarillo attending Amarillo High School. He attended Amarillo College he studied English and History. He married his wife, Starr in 1965. He moved his family to Houston, Texas in 1972 where he worked for the City of Houston as a water plant operator and after completing educational and experience requirements, obtained a First Grade Stationary Engineer's license to fire and maintain boilers for the city of Houston. He also attended and completed Action Training School of Air Conditioning and Heating in Houston. He and his family moved back to Amarillo in 1986. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs VA Medical Center in the boiler plant where he retired from the VA as a boiler plant foreman. Raymond was a musician from the time he learned to play the guitar at the age of 14. The last few years, he enjoyed playing lead guitar with his family band. He especially enjoyed playing for the sock hops at the VA Community Living Center in the recent years with his family band to give the resident veterans there some fun to brighten up their days. He also enjoyed playing gospel music. He was very sad when his declining health would not allow him to do this anymore. Raymond died peacefully at home from heart failure where he had been under the care of his wife and BSA Hospice. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son Russell Louis Boston in 1968; his parents Louis and Lena Boston in 1989 and 2003, a brother Jason Boston in 2012.
He is survived by his wife Starr of the home; a son Mike Boston and wife Beth; grandson Eddie Boston; granddaughter, DiAnna Boston; sister Joyce Gatlin all of Amarillo; a nephew Jantz Boston of Grandview, Missouri; brother- in- law ; Ed Edwards of Amarillo; sister- in- law; Tijuana Taylor of Longview, Texas; lifetime friend, Ronnie Bunch of Ft. Worth, Texas as well as cousins and special friends.
