Mrs. Loar was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Pontotoc, Okla., to Morris N. Holmes and Mary E. Lewter. The family moved to Guymon, Okla., when Nora was 18 months old then to Lycan, Colo., when she was six years old. Nora married David Loar on Feb. 9, 1935, in Boise City, Okla.
She was licensed as a vocational nurse in Amarillo in 1953. She worked in both St. Anthony’s Hospital and Northwest Texas Hospital, and was an office nurse for Dr. Fred Johnson for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Loar, in 1973, and two sons, Kenneth Loar, in 1963, and Rodney D. Loar, in 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Fredrick and Leonard Loar, both of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
