Mary "Ruth" Jenkins

Mary “Ruth” Jenkins, of Amarillo Texas, passed away on September 3rd, 2023 surrounded by her children and grandchildren at the age of 93. Ruth was born on February 13th, 1930 to W.C. and Cressie Davis in Hood County Texas. She attended Wellington High school where she graduated in 1948. She later went on to marry her love Karl Jenkins in 1957 and the two moved to Amarillo. Ruth would give Karl 6 children. As one would expect, there came many grandchildren. Ruth and Karl had 19 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, with one on the way, and 4 great great grandchildren with one on the way as well.

Ruth worked for many years at J.C. Penneys where she eventually retired. Ruth was loved by many and so was her cooking. She was always willing to bake for any event at her church, Second Baptist, and loved to make meals at the holidays for her family. She also had a passion for gardening and would often grow her own ingredients for her recipes.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Karl, and is survived by her children, Albert Blocker (Leigh), Glenn Blocker (Sonja), Kenneth Jenkins (Janet), Lynda Odom (Mike), Karla Schoen (Joseph), Julie Reneau (Brent), and her many grandchildren.
