Mary Elizabeth Highfill McDaniel left Sunday morning, February 27, 2011 to attend church services in Heaven. Mary was born on a farm to Elmer and Elizabeth Davis Highfill on February 21, 1926 near Freedom, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of five daughters. Mary married the love of her life, Delbert Allan McDaniel, on August 15, 1945. With family in tow from Woodward, Oklahoma, they moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1959. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary together with family this past year.
Mary’s Baptist Christian values with a strong work ethic were taught to all. Her generosity, compassion, understanding, and love were given to all. She was always there for everyone. Mary had moxie and swagger that most men only dream of. There wasn’t a problem or task she wouldn’t undertake. Mary was the Matriarch of our family.
To friends she was Mary, nieces and nephews called her Aunt Mary, Dad called her honey, her sisters called her Big Mary, her kids called her Mom, the grandkids, great-grandkids, and their friends called her Mema.
Mom lived her life to the fullest, loved her family and will be missed by all.
Mary joins her father, mother, sister Jane Laird, grandson Wade McDaniel and son-in-law, Wayne Williams in Heaven.

Great-Grandkids; Madison McDaniel, Molly McDaniel, Christi Beth McDaniel, Joshua McDaniel, Caleb McDaniel, Ashby Graham and Rachel Pershall.
Sisters – Marie Chapple, Lela Brock, and Vera McNaught, not to mention all her many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
